Financial Resources

Federal, state, and local governments offer financial support to small businesses through loan programs. These loans usually cover only 30-50% of a business's funding needs, so applicants must show they have enough money of their own to cover the rest. When applying for a loan, businesses need to prove they can repay it, have good management skills, and are committed to running the business successfully.

Business Oregon is the economic development agency for the state of Oregon, and a primary resource for funding your business.

Many Oregon cities and counties have economic development programs which include financial help. Contact the city and county where your business is (or will be) for details.

Below is a list of financial resources for small businesses. Contact your local Small Business Development Center or local economic development agencies for more information.

Local Revolving Loan Funds

There are many revolving loan funds for small business financing administered by local governments and development groups. Usually funding is provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development through the State of Oregon or by the federal Economic Development Administration. For more information, contact the U.S. Economic Development Administration at 503-326-3078.
