The state treasurer is a constitutional officer and a statewide elected official. The treasurer serves as the chief financial officer for the state and is responsible for the prudent management of billions of taxpayer dollars. The treasurer serves a four-year term and may serve only two consecutive terms. The Office of the State Treasurer is the state’s financial services hub and oversees a range of financial responsibilities, including managing the investment of state funds, issuing state bonds, serving as the central bank for state agencies and administering the Oregon 529 Savings Network and Oregon Retirement Savings Plan.

In addition, the office coordinates policy development, legislative and public initiatives, financial literacy outreach and public engagement. The state treasurer, by constitutional authority, serves on the State Land Board and, by statute, on a number of public financial boards, including the Oregon Investment Council and State Debt Policy Advisory Commission.
