Audiologists and speech-language pathologists provide vital services to Oregonians in hospitals, home health settings, private practices, early intervention programs, early childhood special education programs and in Oregon’s kindergarten through grade 12 school system. The State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology was established in 1973 to license and regulate the performance of audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and, as of 2013, speech-language pathology assistants, to ensure consumer protection. The office is staffed by three employees (2.5 full-time equivalent) and overseen by the board, which is made up of two audiologists, two speech-language pathologists, one otolaryngologist and two public members.
