The State Landscape Contractors Board (LCB) was created in 1972, became semi-independent in 2002 and is responsible for regulating landscape construction work in Oregon. The agency is overseen by a board of seven individuals, appointed by the governor, who serve a maximum of six years. Five of the seven members are from the landscaping industry and two represent the general public

The LCB promotes consumer protection and contractor competency in the Oregon landscape contracting industry through five major program areas: Examinations, Licensing, Enforcement, Claims/Dispute Resolution and Education. As of June 30, 2015, there were 4.5 full-time employees overseeing the five programs of the agency and administering over 2,500 licensees, including both business and individual licenses.
