The Oregon Criminal Justice Commission, created in 1995, serves as the policy development forum for state and local criminal justice systems. Eleven staff persons provide data analysis, planning and grant administration expertise to public safety officials. They work collaboratively with stakeholders to improve Oregon’s criminal justice systems. Nine commissioners direct the staff’s work. The agency directly impacts criminal justice systems by administering statewide grant programs for specialty courts and justice reinvestment programs. The agency administers Oregon’s sentencing guidelines, serves as the State Administering Agency for the Byrne Justice Assistant Grant program and houses the Statistical Analysis Center.
