Created in 1995, the commission serves as the policy development forum for state and local criminal justice systems. Nineteen staff provide data analysis, planning and grant administration expertise to public safety officials and work with stakeholders to improve Oregon’s criminal justice systems. The agency administers the statewide grant programs for specialty courts and justice reinvestment programs, administers Oregon’s sentencing guidelines, serves as the State Administering Agency for the Byrne Justice Assistant Grant program and houses the Statistical Analysis Center. Nine commissioners direct the staff’s work.
