Board of Medical Imaging

Present Duties

The board licenses and oversees over 7,200 medical imaging technologists who are qualified to practice radiography, radiation therapy, sonography, nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In addition, the board oversees the educational requirements and issues permits for over 400 limited x-ray machine operators. Members of the board are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate for three-year terms. There are 12 board members, including four physicians, three public members and five medical imaging licensees who represent each of the five medical imaging modalities. The board has four employees.
