Present Duties
The Oregon Government Ethics Commission (OGEC) administers Oregon ethics law, lobby law and public meetings law. Prior to 2023, OGEC only had jurisdiction over the executive session provisions of public meetings law but with the passage of House Bill 2805, OGEC now has jurisdiction over all public meetings law.
The nine-member, all-volunteer commission must be confirmed by the Oregon Senate. No more than three of the commissioners may be from the same political party. OGEC staff include the executive director who is appointed by the commission and 14 full-time employees, who focus on compliance and education.
