Present Duties
The Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying (OSBEELS) regulates the practice of engineering; regulation of the land surveying profession; exercises administrative oversight for Certified Water Right Examiners; regulates the practice of photogrammetric mapping.
The 11-member board and 12 staff ensure registered professional engineers, land surveyors, photogrammetrists and certified water right examiners are qualified in fields in which technical and professional knowledge and skills are required. OSBEELS sets standards of qualification for licensure, ensuring individuals are fully qualified by education, experience and examination to practice in Oregon. The board also reviews relevant laws and rules, revising them expeditiously; enforces regulatory laws and rules by carefully investigating any complaints or information relating to violations; and effectively disseminates information regarding board goals and activities to licensees and the public.
OSBEELS is semi-independent and serves approximately 30,000 individuals.
