The Council on Court Procedures is the public body most directly involved in creating, reviewing, amending and maintaining the Oregon Rules of Civil Procedure. The ORCP govern procedure and practice in all Oregon circuit courts except for the small claims departments.
The council puts into effect amendments to the ORCP in odd-numbered years each biennium. The amendments remain in place unless the Legislature by statute repeals, amends or supplements them.
Council members are volunteers and include a court of appeals judge, a supreme court judge, circuit court judges, practicing attorneys who represent both those who bring civil cases and those who defend them, and a member of the public. See the Council’s website or ORS 1.725–1.760 for more detailed information.
