The following volunteer citizen boards are under the agency’s administrative oversight.

Board of Athletic Trainers

Statutory Authority: ORS 688.701–688.734

Duties and Responsibilities: The Board of Athletic Trainers oversees the practice of athletic trainers in Oregon. It has five members appointed by the governor.

Behavior Analysis Regulatory Board

Statutory Authority: ORS 676.800–676.805

Duties and Responsibilities: The Behavior Analysis Regulatory Board oversees the licensing of behavior analysts and assistant behavior analysts and the registration of behavior analysis interventionists, all of whom treat individuals with autism spectrum disorder. The board has nine members appointed by the governor and subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Board of Certified Advanced Estheticians


Duties and Responsibilities: In July 2015, House Bill 2642 created the Board of Certified Advanced Estheticians to oversee the safe practice of advanced nonablative esthetics in Oregon. The board has nine members appointed by the governor. Licensing in advanced esthetics began on July 1, 2016.

Board of Cosmetology

Statutory Authority: ORS 690.005–690.992

Duties and Responsibilities: The Board of Cosmetology oversees the practice of cosmetologists in Oregon. It has seven members appointed by the governor and subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Board of Denture Technology

Statutory Authority: ORS 680.500–680.990

Duties and Responsibilities: The Board of Denture Technology oversees the practice of denturists in Oregon. It has seven members appointed by the governor and subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Board of Electrologist and Body Art Practioners

Statutory Authority: ORS 690.350–690.992

Duties and Responsibilities: The Board of Electrologists and Body Art Practitioners oversees the practices of tattoo artists, electrologists and body piercers, including specialty piercers and earlobe-only piercers. It has seven members appointed by the governor and subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Board of Licensed Dietitians

Statutory Authority: ORS 691.405

Duties and Responsibilities: The Board of Licensed Dietitians oversees the practice of dietitians in Oregon. It has seven members appointed by the governor.

Environmental Health Registration Board

Statutory Authority: ORS 700.005–700.995

Duties and Responsibilities: The Environmental Health Registration Board oversees the practices of environmental health specialists and waste water specialists in Oregon. It has seven members appointed by the governor.

Advisory Council on Hearing Aids

Statutory Authority: ORS 694.015–694.991

Duties and Responsibilities: The Advisory Council on Hearing Aids oversees the practice of hearing aid specialists in Oregon. It has seven members appointed by the governor and subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Board of Direct Entry Midwifery

Statutory Authority: ORS 687.405–687.991

Duties and Responsibilities: The Board of Direct Entry Midwifery oversees the practice of licensed direct entry midwives in Oregon. It has seven members appointed by the governor and subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Nursing Home Administrators Board

Statutory Authority: ORS 678.800

Duties and Responsibilities: The Nursing Home Administrators Board oversees the practice of nursing home administrators in Oregon. It has nine members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate.

Respiratory Therapist and Polysomnographic Technologist Licensing Board

Statutory Authority: ORS 688.800–688.995

Duties and Responsibilities: The Respiratory Therapist and Polysomnographic Technologist Licensing Board oversees the practices of respiratory therapists and polysomnographic technologists in Oregon. It has seven members appointed by the governor and subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Sex Offender Treatment Board

Statutory Authority: ORS 675.360–675.410

Duties and Responsibilities: The Sex Offender Treatment Board oversees the practices of clinical and associate sex offender therapists in Oregon. It has seven members appointed by the governor.
