Songs of the Sierras
About This Book
A book of poetry that gained Miller acclaim after it was published in Great Britain. Miller's colorful life included stints serving as a newspaper correspondent during the Klondike Gold Rush in 1897-1898 as well as the Boxer War in China in 1899. The following is an excerpt from Songs of the Sierras:
In men whom men condemn as ill
I find so much of goodness still.
In men whom men pronounce divine
I find so much of sin and blot
I do not dare to draw a line
Between the two, where God has not.
