The Oregon Travel Information Council (OTIC) is a semi-independent state agency. OTIC’s programs help travelers navigate to essential services, attractions and points of historic interest. The agency is responsible for the operation of 39 highway safety rest areas around the state under interagency agreements with the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. OTIC administers the statewide “Blue Logo” Sign Program and information centers that identify gas, food, lodging and attractions on highways throughout Oregon. They lead the Oregon Heritage Tree and Oregon ​Historical Marker programs.

The nine-member governing council has eight volunteers appointed by the governor and one member of the Oregon Transportation Commission, to guide the work of the agency. Members are selected for their knowledge of, experience with or interest in economic development, travel within Oregon, recreational opportunities in Oregon and Oregon’s history and natural history.
