Research and Copy Services

The most comprehensive and timely research is still conducted by visiting the Archives Building in Salem. But many people cannot travel to Salem. While the Archival Records online resources may provide part of the research, some may require personal examination of records. For these situations, the Archives offers research and copy services:

Ready Reference Requests

You may submit simple, informational requests to the Archives for no charge. These include requests that can be answered by staff without leaving their workstation or by consulting basic reference tools such as finding aids, tracing binders, or reference books. Do not use this option to request copies of actual records or research. Ready reference requests may be made in person or by phone, fax, postal mail, or email:
Oregon State Archives

Research and Copies by Archives Staff

A member of the Archives staff will conduct up to four hours of research per request. Requests are handled on a first come-first served basis. We try to complete research and respond in 7 to 10 working days. This varies depending on the nature of the request, workload and staffing.
No expedited research is conducted by the Archives.
